Article by Isabel De Los Rios

If you’ve tasted healthy dessert recipes and have decided you would rather eat the bottom of your shoe, then this article is for you! It is true that when you are hoping to lose some weight, sugar is the first substance that needs to go.

Alcohol is the second. So that rum cake you have your eyes on? Well, unfortunately it is a double no-no.

But just because you shouldn’t eat full-fat, full-sugar dessert on a regular basis, that doesn’t mean that you can’t doctor up a few staples in order to satiate that sweet tooth without stretching out that waistline or compromising taste.

Some of us are so conditioned to super sweet desserts that it may take some detoxifying to truly appreciate what a healthy dessert is. But don’t let that get in the way of developing a beautiful relationship with healthy dessert.

This all begins with a fundamental understanding of what a truly healthy diet is all about. While sacrifice- those Little Debbie’s and Ho-Ho’s need the heave-ho- is a trademark of a healthy lifestyle, that sacrifice doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom.

Two Reasons that Healthy Desserts Are Worth the Sacrifice of Sugar for your Diet Program

The Diet Solution Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Cookies are the only two reasons you need to discover that giving up the mounds of sugar for a more svelte self is not a sacrifice at all! Here are some tips when it comes to making healthy dessert.

Switch out white flour for coconut flour. Swap sugar for raw honey or Stevia. These two simple changes can make an otherwise dangerous dessert as little slice of heaven for your mouth and your thighs.

Print this recipe; you are going to want to whip it up time and time again!

You’re welcome to trifle with this rich chocolate dessert

Article by Bob Brightside

Caramel chocolate trifle, though, is more of an adults’ dessert, thanks to that rich chocolate taste, which is given added richness by the addition of a small splash of Tia Maria liqueur to the chocolate mixture.

And whereas many of us would think of trifles as being soft and gooey, this indulgent dessert has an extra smooth yet firmer texture thanks to the addition of a generous helping of Fairtrade dark chocolate caramels.Giving a further contrast to the flavour of the chocolate are the raspberries, whose bittersweet flavour really cuts through the rich mixture.

Trifles might have gone out of vogue in some quarters, and in others they might even evoke not altogether pleasant memories of the artificial flavours which typified attempts to produce a ‘quick and easy’ version. But our caramel chocolate trifle is truly bursting with deep, sweet tastes – and is almost as simple to make as those trifles-in-a-flash of old.

It’s amazing to think that a dessert this luxurious can be put together in just 15 minutes. All you have to bear in mind, of course, is that it will need at least a couple of hours’ chilling time, which will ensure that all the flavours settle down, and each spoonful will reward you with the plethora of rich tastes which each of the ingredients contributes.

This is one of those desserts which, as you look at it, immediately makes you want to grab a spoon and just sink it into the mixture, emerging with a little taste of each ingredient which melt together on the tongue and just leave you anticipating the next mouthful.

Yes, it’s indulgent, and yes, it’s sweet and rich. But that is surely the hallmark of so many great desserts. And for anyone to whom a new twist on an old, old favourite sounds like a great idea, this caramel chocolate trifle will be music to your tastebuds!

We all like the indulgence every now and again so why not treat yourself to a chocolate trifle which are very tasty or maybe try a chocolate cheesecake for the ultimate guilty pleasure.

Easy Vegan Dessert Recipe Featuring Vegan Chocolate

Article by Andrea Wynn

I’ve been cooking vegan again and found an easy-to-make, delicious, nutritious vegan dessert recipe featuring vegan chocolate and I thought I would share it with you. This dessert is one of three simple vegan recipes that I will be writing about in the next few weeks.

What I loved about this vegan chocolate dessert is that it had a similar consistency and taste as regular chocolate mousse but not the same high-caloric, high-fat count as the real deal and therefore, I felt less guilty making and eating this easy vegan dessert recipe. Ingredients are as follows:

* 1 cup of vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips

* 1 cup non-dairy milk, such as soy milk or rice mike

* 2 12.3-oz packages of low fat silken tofu

* 1 teaspoon vanilla

Optional

* Vegan graham cracker pie crust

* Strawberries

* Mint garnish

Place the vegan chocolate chips and the non-dairy milk in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute so that chips melt. Take the mixture out of the microwave and let it sit and cool down.

Then, using a hand mixer or food processor, blend the tofu, vanilla and chocolate chip/non-dairy milk mixture until smooth. Transfer into small individual serving dishes or the graham cracker pie crust and chill for at least 2 hours.

Before serving, you can top your mousse with strawberries or garnish the mousse with mint leaves. Another variation to making simple vegan recipes using vegan chocolate is to add a cup of fresh bananas while you are mixing the tofu and chocolate mixture to change up the taste a bit.

Want to add some decor to your dessert presentation? Then place the mousse in a decorative glass or ceramic container. I used some margarita glasses that I had to add a quick and easy decorative flair to my table. For other inexpensive decor ideas check out Budget Bash.

Under the same heading of simple vegan recipes is the strawberry mousse I made as well last week. Again, I used readily available ingredients. 2 packages of frozen strawberries, 1 package of extra-firm silken tofu and 3 tablespoons of sugar or 2 tablespoons of Agave nectar (to substitute for the sugar).

Thaw the frozen strawberries and then blend them in a food processor or blender with the sugar and the tofu until smooth. Spoon the mixture into four serving dishes and refrigerate until chilled. You can also serve this dessert with fresh strawberries or another seasonal berry as a garnish. For a complete vegan dinner menu with recipes, check out pages 98 and 101 in Budget Bash.

I hope you like the easy vegan dessert recipe for the vegan chocolate mousse as well as other simple vegan recipes such as the strawberry mousse. Until next time, remember the Budget Bash mantra: make it simple, delicious, stylish, fun & economical to all!
